| Here you have the grittiness of the Hollywood music scene...with an ocean view. Rock n' roll on the Redondo pier morphs daily from cover bands like Fan Halen, Aeromyth, La Grange and Bonfire to the real deal of touring acts ala Marcy Playground and Gin Blossoms. Brixton, a suburb in London, but in this case a live rock cavern has two rooms for Loyola Marymount rockers to lash out. In the main hall, with its black leather couch VIP lounge and keg beer specials, radio-friendly bands of today and yesteryear like Quiet Riot and Everclear rock till the early hours. The more personal Dive at Brixton has intimate decor in its sporadic arrangements of gently-used cushioned sofas and lightly touched with hints of gothic candles, gold ornamented angels and a large black-and-white photo of mother and child. Honestly speaking, we defy anyone after a rock set and a couple Buds to not help but insist they're on the Sunset Stip. |
