| Greek Mythology 101: Medusa was once a ravishing siren until an affair enraged the goddess Athena who cursed her with living snakes for hair and grotesque hellish looks that were so frightening, they would turn men into stone...this is her lair. The passage to find the damned maiden's quarters ends deep in the bowels of the City of Angels at the former Lownenbrau Keller German restaurant. Medusa Lounge’s hauntingly beautiful aura stems from the mind of movie set designer George Eder, who created a Gothic film setting that could only have been conceived after falling asleep listening to Nine Inch Nails' "The Downward Spiral." Terrifying gargoyles, stained-glass windows, wooden folklore carvings, preserved wildlife, a grand chandelier from the classic “Gone With The Wind,” and religious artwork circa European Renaissance, accentuate the labyrinth chamber amid stoned archways and dense lighting. Sooner or later the moment of truth will arrive when valiant faux-haired heroes may need a sip of liquid courage when they encounter alluring deities swaying to the hypnotic chants of “Dead Man’s Party” and “Promiscuous.” Poisons worthy of the gods like the fruitful Bacardi-infused “Aphrodite,” mixed Midori “Zeus Juice,” or a brewed ale serum served in a liter-sized mug, are consumed by local mortals brave enough to engage in midnight dance floor rituals. Iron out the Ed Hardy body armor and Diesel leggings, Medusa’s party wrath awaits. |
