| Couldn't score tickets to see the Fightin' Irish lose at the Coliseum? Missed out on the Trojans versus UCLA at Galen Center too? We know, it's hard nabbing tickets for a school with top notch sports teams but we're going to introduce you to a place that will inspire you to "fight on!" For Trojan alumni and those living in the condos on Figueroa (where the Lakers host their annual championship parades), the "9-O" has been home-sweet-home for all things in Trojan athletics. Since 1947, this Spanish-styled building only a few minutes walking from campus has been known among alumni as the official Tommy Trojan bar of choice. Here's a kicker though, it's not all cardinal & gold inside all the time! Schools with fans who travel well (i.e. Arizona, Arizona State) have clashed here in good fun with local SC supporters on big game nights. Even better, the 901 Bar & Grill supports its hometown teams from hanging championship banners of the Lakers to showing off Dodger pride through a super cool framed Manny Ramirez #99 jersey. Nevertheless, when it comes down to it this is a true, true, true Trojan bar. During fall or spring semesters, Greeks are commonly found playing beer pong or taking advantage of student discounts (with valid ID) on comfort foods like mac-n-cheese, "901" nachos and fish with chips - so tasty. One thing not in good taste (if you're a grad of UCLA) is the noosed stuffed bear tauntingly hung right in the freakin' middle of the bar! |
