The Laugh Factory's become a place pointed out to tourists in open-top tours thanks to the infamous tirade by Michael Richards in 2006. Rather than harp on "Kramer's" racist remarks from years ago, the tour guide should point out how the original Sunset location represents the dream of "making it" to comedians all over the world. Who's performed at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood? Basically...all of Hollywood. From Dane Cook, Chris Tucker and Jeff Foxworthy, to podcast king Adam Carolla and writers and performers from "Chelsea Lately" and "MADtv." Since 1979, the Laugh Factory has been one of, if not the most, sought after site for comedians to get bellies jiggling and for a club with a motto that "guarantees laughs," top quality must be on the bill. This is made possible by comedy mastermind and founder Jamie Masada, who attends "Open Mic" nights every Tuesday to help select the next breakout funnyman - or funnywoman. Aspiring comedians are recommended to show up hours ahead of time to sign up for "Open Mic" showcases hoping to be one of 10 or 15 placed on the bill FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK...not the current sign up night. Going along with undiscovered talent shows are established club skits such as the "Midnight Madness," a late night weekend show to hit up after visiting a few bars. Latino Comedy nights and "The Workshop" with its freestyle flow are popular as well. The Laugh Factory even goes patriotic by honoring the troops with "GIs of Comedy," a show featuring military veterans now-turned joke tellers!
